Coding Manager- Direct Hire

TrustHCS is looking for the perfect candidate who will be a DIRECT HIRE for one of our fantastic clients.

This opportunity is for a hospital in Northeast Ohio.  This hospital has a great family culture, excellent benefits package.  There is a generous PTO and 401k plan. 

Job details:

  • Remote position (70-80% of the time) but travel to the hospital for meetings is required. 
  • This applicant must have 3 years’ HIM management exp (ICD-10 and CPT 4).
  • Ensures inpatient and outpatient accounts are coded on a timely basis and that billed accounts do not exceed a weekly average of an agreed upon benchmark with Patient Accounts. 
  • Trains staff on coding and abstracting functions. 
  • Reviews and resolves coding inquiries from Patient Accounts, third party payers and Physician’s offices. 
  • Reviews and responds to DRG validation inquiries from the PRO and other external agencies.
  • Disseminates changing ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines to maintain data integrity and appropriate reimbursement.  Monitors the quality of coding performed by the staff and takes appropriate action.
  • Responsible for directing the maintenance, system integrity and updates to the Medical Record   coding/abstracting system. 
  • Manages the denied and unbilled claims due to medical record coding errors, missing/incomplete physician/clinical documentation, medical record system errors, etc and reports to Administration.
  • Attends coding in-services and completes required continuing education hours per certification.
  • Organizes annual coding and billing external audits and education thereof.
  • Manages the use and cost of any external contracted coding assistance needed for PTO coverage or other special projects as needed.

This candidate must hold either of the following credentials:  RHIT, CCS, CPC-H or COC.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding
  • Ability to work in a sometimes stressful environmental
